Akron, OH - The University of Akron is offering a Silicone Elastomers Technology and Fabrication course at its Akron Polymer Training Center. This course is a comprehensive overview of silicone elastomers, with detailed information in the areas of material selection, bonding alternatives, dispensing methods, molding machine requirements, tool design, automation and injection molding processing. The course will be held August 28-31 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. This course is presented by a panel of experts in the silicone industry. Time is allotted for discussion of specific projects of interest. A full day is spent at ShinEtsu’s Tech Center incorporating the “hands on” processing learned, with the instructors at the molding machines. Both entry-level and experienced rubber technologists, rubber chemists, process engineers, laboratory managers, supervisors, technicians, shop foremen, quality assurance managers and engineers, technical sales personnel and rubber producers and users can find takeaways from this course.
